While packing up his studio in preparation for leaving Berlin after six years in the city, Graydon rented a portrait studio and photographed an unloved set of studio objects that he could not decide whether to keep or to throw away. These objects hovered between art and trash: broken and former works, support or packaging materials for work, and possibly useful items that had taken on aesthetic dimensions through their life in the studio. Graydon wondered whether taking their portraits would allow him to part with the objects once and for all, or rather would make them now so precious he would feel happy to keep them and carry them across the world. The result were mixed, but to this day he does think about the photos more than the original things.
