Flickering at the intersection of science and psychedelia, Conductant invites you to take a phenomenological response test about your personal sense of the boundaries between your inner subjectivity and the outside world. The set of True or False questions appearing in the work are drawn from an actual intake questionnaire given to human drug trial subjects, known as the Imaginal Processes Inventory.

The Conductant series of videos include single channel versions with sound for screening, along with multi-channel silent and sound versions for live performance accompaniment, and for installation environments. All facets of Conductant speculate on the the intensities of inner experience and their potential to leak out and transform the outer world. Film is the medium and mediator in this relationship: flicker-light from a variable frame rate super-8 film projector illuminates mysterious geometric shapes, empty post-industrial interiors and models of the human form in response to the Inventory’s increasingly bizarre queries.
